I haven't even looked at a sewing machine since school (30ish years!!) and really wasn't planning to get involved. I stroked and admired the pretty fabrics and eyed the sewing machines up...</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Hello, Nicky here!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"> You will need <a href="http://www.themulberry-bush.com/?searchStr=tissue+paper" target="_blank">tissue paper</a>, I had a pile of 5 sheets that I folded a couple of times to give me 15 layers, which I then die cut with a scalloped circle die. You will also need a stamen, a die cut star in green, <a href="http://www.themulberry-bush.com/?searchStr=pierce+-it+tool" target="_blank">pierce-it tool</a>, pricking mat and PVA glue.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgXbHIBY7tOWeMBfzgvQmcCWPGgAvGA2rGFVkeazMaDEx54hcLyOHZzwxapS01D28qCJUw2f9XQTZKAfgLBTbDl99hGA2Yj12QunWSfmTBBRXgbmAlds7P_X-qbPL1-bwyz7Ol78IT60o/s1600/carnation+step+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="246" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgXbHIBY7tOWeMBfzgvQmcCWPGgAvGA2rGFVkeazMaDEx54hcLyOHZzwxapS01D28qCJUw2f9XQTZKAfgLBTbDl99hGA2Yj12QunWSfmTBBRXgbmAlds7P_X-qbPL1-bwyz7Ol78IT60o/s320/carnation+step+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Keeping all the layers together poke a hole through the centre.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwcXrk6lNwNmjpGmXTwcp30HUnwrf__fIflRR1SuaaJPUnR48rDbsRwO-9dIKnUFyVefzEB-kinw-LGCP5AfADstX9vonN-QQithFPw4uQeDcJaNJUcLojhxCfrOh8JHfla42yGbcWu0A/s1600/carnation+step+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="231" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwcXrk6lNwNmjpGmXTwcp30HUnwrf__fIflRR1SuaaJPUnR48rDbsRwO-9dIKnUFyVefzEB-kinw-LGCP5AfADstX9vonN-QQithFPw4uQeDcJaNJUcLojhxCfrOh8JHfla42yGbcWu0A/s320/carnation+step+3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Feed the stamen through the hole, then add a tiny blob of PVA glue and push the tissue paper up.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW3dglnVrp5mIilG0T_D1PhInOCE0LWmH2i1mZppxNYZoLdKl2cW7BU1keSj6jjjUZwtYwddd4KMjaC8tHkCkGdNOiZIvmDetPyY8OH_zV0jR-FrdLce8GbIpLeeWyLJsKSp3xeO9kw3c/s1600/carnation+step+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="224" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW3dglnVrp5mIilG0T_D1PhInOCE0LWmH2i1mZppxNYZoLdKl2cW7BU1keSj6jjjUZwtYwddd4KMjaC8tHkCkGdNOiZIvmDetPyY8OH_zV0jR-FrdLce8GbIpLeeWyLJsKSp3xeO9kw3c/s320/carnation+step+4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Next holding the tissue tight against the stamen head, scrunch one layer of tissue, being careful not to tear the paper.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPEJqo0UNyIDnd38101I78_EwyrcfPYWQNKgYlulwIdndphphTjOk1tDjmbaVVjMdV_yP38HBtxdE5z0QtLUjks81mBtZtFg4u5F5r1Axndy_UhCZRYENtjT21aVH446pjrHkGTUoWKW4/s1600/carnation+step+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="209" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPEJqo0UNyIDnd38101I78_EwyrcfPYWQNKgYlulwIdndphphTjOk1tDjmbaVVjMdV_yP38HBtxdE5z0QtLUjks81mBtZtFg4u5F5r1Axndy_UhCZRYENtjT21aVH446pjrHkGTUoWKW4/s320/carnation+step+5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Keep scrunching each layer separately until you reach the end, don't be tempted to do two layers, patience will be rewarded! If you find the layers hard to separate, lick your thumb and forefinger and grab the paper, pull your fingers apart and hopefully this should separate the layers.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvqaIFt_pzZ24BaukSa-rr6roWlr56ZnOS6iX7amUwKBWK0PvSbb8PdVDvVWk0UKeetn0qeh72kHCXSvcNTuhVjMDalO-1_MsTugUjitgNe5UuO3TWK9-xv-aeU_LPxJZbjnQNnQSX55c/s1600/carnation+step+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="231" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvqaIFt_pzZ24BaukSa-rr6roWlr56ZnOS6iX7amUwKBWK0PvSbb8PdVDvVWk0UKeetn0qeh72kHCXSvcNTuhVjMDalO-1_MsTugUjitgNe5UuO3TWK9-xv-aeU_LPxJZbjnQNnQSX55c/s320/carnation+step+6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Now that you have done that, start unraveling them! Again one layer at a time, if you get two layers they will create a funny looking ridge in the flower, again be patient!</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIXWaep2lyTVqEsTdEe2NvH-558mko9HYZlZsfqD7WxZOuoO49UDe2QT0OcjhIFD7q9yr2fbS1v6E5m3E8t1STkU77b0DbXiTdMKExoqDYjDsUtxbQSZrZl1oPhxZqVD5ih9u_rHXxXHE/s1600/carnation+step+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="243" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIXWaep2lyTVqEsTdEe2NvH-558mko9HYZlZsfqD7WxZOuoO49UDe2QT0OcjhIFD7q9yr2fbS1v6E5m3E8t1STkU77b0DbXiTdMKExoqDYjDsUtxbQSZrZl1oPhxZqVD5ih9u_rHXxXHE/s320/carnation+step+7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Keep going! if you need to, a pair of tweezers can help at this stage. You may also wish to add a drop of glue to the stamen occasionally, but be sparing with it, no-one wants soggy flowers!</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4w9ddZOoojoycKA-ea98SjBPGt-m-Fsr7pR7QdWtMM93axXxvVkGh9uV_P-8zqAFcxGyjK3LZoPsaR09bAZi3BQ4Gdxb96l7wCYD1Ipz2OMeQdqmqENuG2qjkoFz43Re0gav-GHd3laQ/s1600/carnation+step+8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4w9ddZOoojoycKA-ea98SjBPGt-m-Fsr7pR7QdWtMM93axXxvVkGh9uV_P-8zqAFcxGyjK3LZoPsaR09bAZi3BQ4Gdxb96l7wCYD1Ipz2OMeQdqmqENuG2qjkoFz43Re0gav-GHd3laQ/s320/carnation+step+8.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Hopefully you will end up with something that looks like this!</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoVhEumDctb0ZUCZScwdfCvmGae_DDe60IdCaJfgOMf4au5gWcuIDHPpmTQq4PYKoAMzjgn8-egXFzPO2SieYMVJhRtXubWiooKA5JH_sfkNGInXzfnQ2Mh9uubQf3WFLzH8pGBPJmg_E/s1600/carnation+step+10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="245" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoVhEumDctb0ZUCZScwdfCvmGae_DDe60IdCaJfgOMf4au5gWcuIDHPpmTQq4PYKoAMzjgn8-egXFzPO2SieYMVJhRtXubWiooKA5JH_sfkNGInXzfnQ2Mh9uubQf3WFLzH8pGBPJmg_E/s320/carnation+step+10.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">To finish the flowers, pierce a hole in the star, then feed it onto the stem and add some PVA. Push it all the way up to the base of the tissue paper and hold for a few moments to secure.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Whilst browsing Pinterest recently I found a host of inspiration for decorating glass bottles and jars. <a href="http://www.themulberry-bush.com/americana-chalky-finish-for-glass-59ml-vintage.ir" target="_blank">Americana Chalky Finish for Glass</a> paint is one of my favourite products ever...it's so easy to transform a jar or bottle that would have found it's way into the recycling bin, into something beautiful with next to no effort.</div>

The papers in the <a href="http://www.themulberry-bush.com/kaisercraft-cottage-rose-collection-floral-bouquet.ir" target="_blank">Kaisercraft Cottage Rose</a> collection are so pretty and can be used on all sorts of crafty projects. I quite often love the papers so much, that I can't bear to cut into them, or stick things on them...using this gorgeous paper on my <a href="http://www.themulberry-bush.com/wooden-tray-with-glass-bottom.ir" target="_blank">tray</a> was the perfect solution!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I usually use a crackle medium between my chalk paint layers, but this time decided to try something a little different. I first painted the tray with <a href="http://www.themulberry-bush.com/americana-decor-chalky-finish-primitive.ir" target="_blank">Primitive Americana chalk paint</a> and when it was completely dry painted over it with <a href="http://www.themulberry-bush.com/americana-decor-chalky-finish-promise.ir" target="_blank">Promise Americana chalk paint</a> (I was going to use my faithful white, but as I was trying something a little different...). I love these paints as no prep is necessary, they are so easy to apply, and leave a smooth brush free surface when dry.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I then used a sanding block to reveal the base coat of paint in places, I think it creates a lovely worn rustic look and shall be doing it again. I wound some rustic <a href="http://www.themulberry-bush.com/club-green-twine-2mmx10m-natural.ir" target="_blank">twine</a> around the handles and finished my tray by applying the beautiful paper to the base. The tray has a glass panel so the paper will be protected.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have to say I am quite pleased with the finished result! We are holding a <a href="https://www.facebook.com/events/194151120981428/?active_tab=highlights" target="_blank">workshop</a> on the 9th July if you would like to make one yourself.</div>

Sponge</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
Method</h3>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u></u><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ensure your glass bowl is clean and dry (you can clean it with pure alcohol if required).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Carefully Tear the serviette into small pieces </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Separate the layers of your serviette...you will use the very top layer.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwZi5KtH9Dye6i8Wf-gz5hcvPnNtlfsneCr26pdM5kFOJsQAPXyQiNQDn5q0cAMIftKsU3JSnKPCuI35ooZXhVB53-ahMltw_k0xLq8dga6BlBzeBJiviSC2r3HW-pfqP06Dwo7aSVAio/s1600/IMG_1980.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwZi5KtH9Dye6i8Wf-gz5hcvPnNtlfsneCr26pdM5kFOJsQAPXyQiNQDn5q0cAMIftKsU3JSnKPCuI35ooZXhVB53-ahMltw_k0xLq8dga6BlBzeBJiviSC2r3HW-pfqP06Dwo7aSVAio/s320/IMG_1980.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Lay a piece of the serviette inside your bowl and 'paint' it to the bowl using the Glass & Tile Part B and a flat paintbrush.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiimstUltuCyNlDgOqlxB7SF8XVlUVFlRXLxTJOdp0D05LRCUZzhXVPukahpG5cewa7eQ7BqZPU4UqkiLTyxPpeMORqOgXEMHE5wcieQeEwQjdKuEtcIT82Cb5lPHvJSFZ-E7RhAWFpWWA/s1600/IMG_2000.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiimstUltuCyNlDgOqlxB7SF8XVlUVFlRXLxTJOdp0D05LRCUZzhXVPukahpG5cewa7eQ7BqZPU4UqkiLTyxPpeMORqOgXEMHE5wcieQeEwQjdKuEtcIT82Cb5lPHvJSFZ-E7RhAWFpWWA/s320/IMG_2000.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Continue to paint pieces of the serviette to the inside of the bowl to build up the design.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3GFAU_hYFTfECedUe7-iuYujc7Bc0BD2fk2X1xOGTXJLFAKi3tAOoMRBhqWulwpTCUXqY7PX3BTDwDGY5gMfFN8IRaw4Bnh0BPq6EBbpJMvCtYkoj9-z_CYBhDmEDYlQC5FXUWzThj00/s1600/IMG_2011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3GFAU_hYFTfECedUe7-iuYujc7Bc0BD2fk2X1xOGTXJLFAKi3tAOoMRBhqWulwpTCUXqY7PX3BTDwDGY5gMfFN8IRaw4Bnh0BPq6EBbpJMvCtYkoj9-z_CYBhDmEDYlQC5FXUWzThj00/s320/IMG_2011.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ensure the bowl is dry (you can use a hairdryer to accelerate drying time) and then apply paint to the inside of your bowl using a sponge. This will really make your design 'pop'. The bowl can be left transparent if desired.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgU0mSNl5MQoHqU5x2vNBJRrvd_3bkZfiEMbfll9FqUsCb_lwMe87atcQsJvOI_ZR6a0VCS6NFIMbkbigvR1c6HprlccnGr7932EuwL98yoH-tP3PkpEGUgMtZvTfzBSOd_pcWCg1vEfYM/s1600/IMG_2020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgU0mSNl5MQoHqU5x2vNBJRrvd_3bkZfiEMbfll9FqUsCb_lwMe87atcQsJvOI_ZR6a0VCS6NFIMbkbigvR1c6HprlccnGr7932EuwL98yoH-tP3PkpEGUgMtZvTfzBSOd_pcWCg1vEfYM/s320/IMG_2020.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When the paint is fully dry (again a hairdryer can be used to accelerate the drying time), you can carefully remove excess serviette from the rim of the bowl using a craft knife.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The inside of your bowl can be varnished using the finish of your choice.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOMQQsPlJYB-ulkdDwAhBiO0zLQLItwJ_ch0y9cz_YMko3RlGDrP3_iA_nIyctXKQvwvJEIe5Pzwn4IVIgCNAzuibeXmszYhtH5oVFm2X0hacfQ4pK07QbyZX7cz1WOJB8dQd-mZaN-fw/s1600/IMG_2030.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOMQQsPlJYB-ulkdDwAhBiO0zLQLItwJ_ch0y9cz_YMko3RlGDrP3_iA_nIyctXKQvwvJEIe5Pzwn4IVIgCNAzuibeXmszYhtH5oVFm2X0hacfQ4pK07QbyZX7cz1WOJB8dQd-mZaN-fw/s320/IMG_2030.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>

It's so easy to transform a plain glass bowl into something beautiful!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sue Tedeschi recently transformed a cheap and cheerful pair of pumps into something special! It's so cost effective and quick to do, here's how...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u>Recipe</u></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Plain Pumps</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.themulberry-bush.com/Jo-Sonjas-Painting-Mediums/Jo-Sonja-s-Textile-Medium-250ml-Bottle">Jo Sonja's Textile Medium</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.themulberry-bush.com/Jo-Sonjas-Painting-Mediums/Jo-Sonja-s-All-Purpose-Sealer-250ml-Bottle">Jo Sonja's All Purpose Sealer (for a waterproof finish)</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Soft Paintbrush</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.themulberry-bush.com/Napkins">Napkins</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u>Method</u></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Separate the napkins into the fine layers. Tear the pieces you wish to use from the napkin, a torn edge makes it easier to blend the pieces together. It's also worth noting that a napkin with a white background will work better on a pair of white pumps.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You could also use rubber stamps with Stazon Inks, to decorate the plain tissue layer and use this.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjRFAw4XJG-GYyYqbvus8Fewy32pZmxTJN_iCqVEjh97DxnrLpFhYMt3RsLUscBsKlUddSbxBMx_L438iBI4kPKX8j43NtwJa4k5Eaou-hLKFJ0aCm0r-d2EFNYe8BcHKaeDDH1tUU1XU/s1600/_MG_5121+-+jo+sonjas+pumps.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjRFAw4XJG-GYyYqbvus8Fewy32pZmxTJN_iCqVEjh97DxnrLpFhYMt3RsLUscBsKlUddSbxBMx_L438iBI4kPKX8j43NtwJa4k5Eaou-hLKFJ0aCm0r-d2EFNYe8BcHKaeDDH1tUU1XU/s1600/_MG_5121+-+jo+sonjas+pumps.jpg" height="238" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Lay the torn tissue flat where you would like it to be and apply it to the shoe using Jo Sonja's Textile medium. Load your paintbrush well with the medium and, with soft strokes, apply it to the tissue - working from the centre of the piece outwards. Ensure that plenty of medium is applied...if the tissue seems to be tearing it usually means that not enough medium is being used.</div>
<div>
</div>
<div align="center">
<div>
Once the required design has been achieved leave to dry well – this could take up to a week.</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
To give a water proof finish to the canvass, cover with Jo Sonja All Purpose Sealer, then leave to dry – again this could take up to a week.</div>
<div>

The papers were torn into small pieces and applied to the frame using Jo Sonja All Purpose Sealer. The sealer not only sticks the papers but also seals it with a lovely shine.<br />

The sentiment was stamped onto tissue and applied to the centre of the frame, also using the All Purpose medium. A really effective technique as the tissue becomes transparent and it is much easier than stamping directly on to your project.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Nicky Hayden recently made this gorgeous calendar using Papermania's Parisienne Blue collection.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u>Recipe</u></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 Piece of Mount Board 6" x 6"</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 Pattern Papers 8" x 8"</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 Piece Pattern Paper 4" x 3"</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 Piece Pattern Paper 1.25 x 6"</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 Piece Kraft Card 1.5" x 6"</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 length of Self Adhesive Lace 4"</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 Button</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 12" Length of Ribbon</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Die Cut Paper Lace Strip</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 Flower</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Self Adhesive Pearls</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u>Method</u></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Cover the Mount Board in one of the 8 x 8 papers. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Cut the other 8 x 8 paper to 5 x 5" and set the remainder aside for later decoration.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Secure the long piece of ribbon to the back of the board and stick the 5 x 5 paper over the back covering the ribbon ends.</div>
<br />
<br />

<div align="center">
This stunning pencil pot was Decorated by Sue Tedeschi using Jo Sonja Paints, Mediums and Napkins. It's surprisingly easy to achieve, and I think you'll agree that the results are stunning!</div>

Materials required:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.themulberry-bush.com/Jo-Sonjas-Painting-Mediums/Jo-Sonja-s-All-Purpose-Sealer-250ml-Bottle"> Jo Sonja’s All Purpose Sealer</a> (APS)</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.themulberry-bush.com/Napkins">Serviettes</a><span> <br /> Sponges/ soft brush</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span></span> </div>
<span><div style="text-align: center;">
Start by preparing the background colour for the pencil pot. You can buy the background colours ready mixed or you can make your own colour using the white as your base and adding small amounts of the artist colours to achieve the desired effect.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Mix the paint with APS ratio 2:1 and apply to the wood. The APS helps give a better cover to the wood without soaking too far into it. You can apply the paint with either a sponge or a brush. Leave to dry.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<div align="center">
Once dry apply a coat of Décor Crackle to the area that you would like cracked. Load your brush well with the medium and let it flow off of the brush. DO NOT WORK THE CRACKLE MEDIUM TOO MUCH. It must flow off of the brush and leave a good layer where required. You get bigger and better cracks if the medium is a thicker layer but if you work the medium too much it with not activate. You can accelerate the drying time with a hairdryer.</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Once the medium is dry you can apply a contrasting top coat of paint, do not over work the paint, as if you over work it you may hamper the cracking process.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When choosing your top coat colour, please be aware that the crackle will not work if a metallic paint is used (ie Gold) or a iridescent/pearl paint.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You will get a different crackle effect according to how you apply the top paint. A sponge will give you a random crackle, a brush will give you a bark effect.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This will give you a fine crackle effect. If you would like the effect to be more drastic apply a layer of Crackle Medium and allow to dry.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next separate the tissues into the fine layers. Tear the tissue to give you the patterns that you wish to use. A torn edge makes it easier to blend the pieces together.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Apply the torn tissue to the pencil pot using the All Purpose Medium. Lay the tissue flat where you would like it to be. Load the brush well with the medium and, with soft strokes, apply the medium to the tissue - working from the centre of the piece outwards. Ensure that plenty of medium is applied. If the tissue seems to be tearing it usually means that not enough medium is being used.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you want to varnish your piece, make sure you leave it for at least a couple of weeks in case you re activate the crackle medium and it cracks your varnish.</div>

I'm terrible at remembering to take photographs over the festive period, so this year I have created a paper bag album especially! The pages are all ready for my photographs and I can slip my Panto tickets and gift tags from the children into the pockets...</div>
