Christmas Cracker!

 

I love the idea of making your own Christmas crackers! The gifts can be easily chosen for every guest at your dinner table...what could be better than a Christmas cracker crafted especially for you!

Vintage Card Suitcase

 

I recently rescued this gorgeous suitcase that was destined for the skip! The suitcase belonged to my Mother In Laws Great Aunt and it has certainly travelled and seen a good deal of life!

 

 

 

I coloured some wooden letters with a Promarker and glued them to luggage labels. Lace was attached to the suitcase pocket and the tags pegged to the suitcase with wooden pegs decorated with pearls.

 

I can't wait for the suitcase to be used!

Velvet Ribbon, Lace and Kraft card...a winning combination!

It all began as a result of a consultation with a bride for her wedding favour boxes. I always create samples during a consultation and loved the combination of lilac velvet ribbon and lace so much that it inspired me to create the rest!

 

I finished the box with one of my favourite pearl and diamante embellishments. The doily has been printed to act as a place setting, and lace tied around the Champagne class for a bit of extra luxury!

 

A Kraft DL card has been printed to create the menu and finished with the lace, ribbon and embellishment to complement the favour box.

 

I adore our birdcages which are hired out to brides and have been dressed in so many different ways. I used large paper roses to create this stunning display and once again finished with the ribbon, lace and embellishment to match.

Precious Heart

I really enjoy turning a plain wooden object into something pretty! Wooden hearts are my favourite and are so versatile. This pretty heart could be adapted to suit a number of occasions...a gift for the blushing bride, décor for the wedding venue, a christening or birthday gift...

 

 

I painted the wooden heart blank using Opal Jo Sonja acrylic paint and a sponge to avoid brushstrokes.

 

 

When the paint was dry I applied self adhesive pearls and a Kaisercraft rub-on.  The sentiment can be adapted to suit, you could also try stamping your own sentiment or maybe the bride and grooms initials using individual letter stamps.

 

 





 

I finished the heart with some paper roses (attached with a glue gun) and some rustic garden twine.

 

A quick and easy project with results you can be proud of every time!

Embossed White Linen Invitation

I love the way an embossing folder simply changes the look of card and paper, and was recently inspired to make this simple and elegant Wedding invitation.

 

 

 

The invitation details were printed on crisp white linen card using font Baroque Script in grey. I prefer to print wedding stationery in grey as it looks more delicate than black ink.

 

 



 

I then embossed the card with a pretty rose and lace embossing folder and tied a simple white organza ribbon around it, before mounting the invitation onto Silver card.

 

 

 

A few self adhesive pearls finish the invitation perfectly!

Handcrafted especially by you...

Making your own wedding stationery is not only cost effective, but also very satisfying!

 

Your invitations will be the first glimpse that your guests have of your special day.  Think about whether you want to bring your colour into the design of your invites, or if you are going to stick with neutral Ivory, White, Gold or Silver and keep your colour under wraps.  It's also worth considering how you are going to incorporate the design of your invitations into the other stationery required on the day ie  Order of Service, Menus, Table Plan, Place cards and favours.

 

 

 

Source good quality cards for your invitations and don't forget that you will need envelopes and inserts as well as embellishments. Ideally you want your invitations to look 'handcrafted' and not 'homemade' so keep it simple and choose a design that can be easily mass produced!

 

 

 

 

Think about the 'tools' that will be required for the making of your stationery...Glue, Tape and a cutter for cutting straight edges...if you don't have the correct adhesive for the job it can be a disaster!

 

When using ribbons, I would always recommend that you stick satin to avoid bulky unattractive bows and, tie organza, as there is nothing worse than being able to see the glue or tape used to stick the ribbon. It is also very important to have a nice sharp pair of scissors to cut your ribbon as this will ensure you have a nice crisp edge and avoid fraying.

 

 

 

 

If you have a printer at home it is easy to print your own inserts with the help of a free template.  I prefer to print inserts using a grey font as it doesn't look as harsh as black and will not smudge as easily on pearlescent papers.  The font choice is also important, on of my favourites is 'Pristina' as it is elegant and easy to read.
