Christmas Paper Bag Book

I'm terrible at remembering to take photographs over the festive period, so this year I have created a paper bag album especially! The pages are all ready for my photographs and I can slip my Panto tickets and gift tags from the children into the pockets...

The album is very easily made using block bottom paper bags, simply stick the bottoms of the bags together and then embellish with papers, ribbons and buttons.

The photographs are to be the main features of the album, so I have stamped onto luggage labels and used punches, buttons and ribbons to simply embellish my pages.

I have thought about the photographs I would like to include...I just need to remember to take them and complete the album after the festive period!

Garage Days Scrapbook Page

I couldn't wait to use the new Kaisercraft Garage Days scrapbook papers...they are perfect for the special men in your life!

I cut 2 different sized circles and distressed the edges to give a more worn look, the co-ordinating papers are perfect for adding sentiments, and I love that even the strip at the bottom of the page is useful!

I'm currently exploring using paint on my layouts and was very pleased with this effect using bubble wrap...so easy and effective.

A kaisercraft sentiment was perfect for the page and as always I couldn't resist drawing stitching around the elements!

I stamped the tags using a Kaisercraft background stamp. Two were stamped using versamark ink and embossed with clear embossing powder, before applying blue ink. The other was stamped with blue ink and finished with a kaisercraft rub on. Twine was tied around the page and finished with a gorgeous metal button.

Art Deco Gift Box

This gorgeous Art Deco box was designed by Nicky Hayden and featured in one of her recent workshops.

You will need:-

2 x Black Card 15 x 15 cm
4 x Black Card 11 x 15 cm

4 x Black Card 10.5 x 14.5 cm
4 x Patterned Paper 10 x 14 cm

3 x Silver Card 10.5 x 14.5 cm
3 x Patterned Paper 10 x 14 cm

1 x Silver Card 10.5 x 10.5 cm
1 x Patterned Paper 10 x 10 cm

1 Metre Silver Ribbon

1 Art Deco Decoupage

Optional :-

2 Strips of Paper for Rosettes
Feathers
Gems

Instructions:-

Score both of the 15cm square panels 2cm from the edge on each side.

Score one piece diagonally from the edge, this is now the base.

On the other, cut into the first vertical score line until you meet the second score line, then cut a wedge shape out of the corner. Do the same on the other end and the opposite sides...be sure not to cut all 4 sides! Stick the little tabs inside with glue and secure with pegs, this is now the lid.

Stick the 4 11x15 panels onto the front of the base on all four sides.

Put the lid on top to finish the box...now for the fun bit!!

To decorate:-

Tie the silver ribbon around the middle of the box and stick the decoupage base layer on to one of the outside panels. Stick 3 silver pieces of card onto the remaining 3 panels, followed by the 3 patterned papers.

Do the same on the inside of the box with the black panels and patterned papers, on each inside panel.

Cover the base of the box with the square of patterned paper.

Use the remainder of the decoupage pack to decorate as you please and finish with feathers and gems.

This design is so versatile and can be easily adapted for any occasion simply by changing the papers and embellishments!

Best Friends

My daughters best friend lives in another country (actually she has moved to Sussex, but when you're 3 that seems like the other side of the world!!), so I love this photograph of the two of them together taken on a recent visit. It gave me the perfect opportunity to use the fabulous new Basecoat collection from Kaisercraft.

I sponged white paint through a Kaisercraft mask and was really pleased with the result.

The embellishments in the collectables pack co-ordinate perfectly and are so quick and easy to use...they match the sentiment of the photograph perfectly.

No layout is complete without ribbons, lace and buttons...and these are some of my favourites!

I always try to include a handwritten element on my layouts...a little piece of me to leave behind!

Such cheeky girls!

Christmas Cracker!

I love the idea of making your own Christmas crackers! The gifts can be easily chosen for every guest at your dinner table...what could be better than a Christmas cracker crafted especially for you!

The Christmas cracker kit from Stix2 has everything you need to make your very own personalised crackers and they are so easy to put together.

It's great fun to decorate them to fit in with your Christmas theme...you could even personalise them for your guests. I personally think you can beat a bit of ribbon, bakers twine...and of course buttons!

Vintage Card Suitcase

I recently rescued this gorgeous suitcase that was destined for the skip! The suitcase belonged to my Mother In Laws Great Aunt and it has certainly travelled and seen a good deal of life!

I coloured some wooden letters with a Promarker and glued them to luggage labels. Lace was attached to the suitcase pocket and the tags pegged to the suitcase with wooden pegs decorated with pearls.

I can't wait for the suitcase to be used!

I would love to know what you think..
